Days of the Dinosaur coming to the Oregon State Fair!

The Days of the Dinosaur exhibit is coming to the Oregon State Fair this summer!
 
The fair runs from August 27th-September 6th!

Hayesville raises $1,120.54 for Haiti!

In just a little over a month, Hayesville students collected over $1100 for Mercy Corps! 
 
That's enough money to supply 747 Haitians with fresh drinking water for an entire month!
 
That's enough money to build 93 latrines (port-a-potties)! 
 
Fresh drinking wather and latrines prevent further deaths from diseases like diptheria and cholera.
 
Your fundraising efforts SAVED LIVES!  What an incredible accomplishment!

JUMP! These teens take rope jumping to a whole new level!

Rope jumping--an extreme sport?  Absolutely!
 
Check out this documentary, featuring five competitive rope jumping teams as they "push physical and psychological limits in pursuit of winning the World Championship." 
 
Combining rope jumping, gymnastics, and even break dancing, these kids will inspire you to get up and move!
 

Halloween Candy Buy-Back Program!

Oak Park Family Dental Care is offering to buy back your Halloween candy!  Bring your candy to the clinic Monday, November 2nd, from 3-5pm.  You'll receive $1 per pound of candy (up to $10)!  The candy will be sent to our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq through Operation Gratitude!

The State Treasurer's Office is announcing the 2009-2010 Reading is an Investment program!  This is an innovatice literacy and financial education program for K-5 students, designed to highlight the importance of reading, while teaching children about the world of money and financial concepts. 
 
To enter the drawing for a $250 College Savings Plan scholarship, independent readers must read at least three books from the Reading is an Investment book list and read for a total of 800 minutes.  Students to whom books are read aloud must be read at least three books from the book list and be read to for a total of 400 minutes.  The books on the Reading is an Investment book list can be checked out from Hayesville's library!
 
Entries must be submitted no later than March 10th, 2010.

Hey, 5th graders!  Interested in attending the 2010 Winter Olympic Games?
 
McDonald's USA is offering a unique opportunity for young people from across the country to attend the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver, B.C.!  McDonald's is inviting kids ages 11-14 to enter an online contest for a chance to become a McDonald's Champion Kid.  In addition to attending Olympic events, meeting Olympic athletes and kids from around the world, and touring the sights of Vancouver and Whistler, the selected kids will share their stories and perspectives about the Games with their local communities back home!
